Canopy Growth appoints new execs

The country’s first publicly traded medical marijuana corporation has names industry vets Mark Zekulin and Adam Greenblatt to executive positions

Canopy Growth Corporation, Canada’s first publicly traded medical marijuana company, has named a new president and a new head of Quebec engagement, according to a news release.

The company has appointed Mark Zekulin as president, according to a news release. Zekulin also serves as president of Canopy subsidiary Tweed.

“Mark has demonstrated outstanding vision and organizational execution from the founding of Tweed to the achievement of our 20,000th patient,” said Bruce Linton, CEO and chairman of Canopy. “The company is now engaged in the pursuit of medical, recreational and international opportunities, and mark fits naturally in this new role.”

The company has also named Adam Greenblatt as the head of Quebec engagement at Tweed. In that role, Greenblatt will work to further expand medical marijuana access for patients in Canada’s second-most populous province. He previously served as executive director at Santé Cannabis, Quebec’s leading medical cannabis clinic.

“Adam’s appointment is an important step in our commitment to fair and equal access to medical cannabis patients across the country,” Zekulin said. “In addition to his unparalleled wit on social media, Adam Greenblatt is a pioneer in the cannabis community, and we are excited to have him join us here at Tweed.”

“There are more barriers to safe and legal access to medical cannabis in Quebec than elsewhere in Canada,” Greenblatt said. “Joining the Tweed team will empower me to engage patients and healthcare professionals, and to further establish a vibrant and professional marijuana industry in the province of Quebec.”
