Industry vet Casselman joins tech startup League

Previously an executive at Sun Life Financial, Lori Casselman will work to advance League’s employee benefits program

Industry veteran Lori Casselman has been appointed chief health officer by Canadian tech startup League.

In her new role, Casselman – previously an executive at Sun Life Financial – will work to advance League’s employee benefits program. Prior to her stint at Sun Live, Casselman held positions on various health advisory boards and at Buffett & Co., a health and wellness startup.

“The healthcare system needs a multidisciplinary, consumer-oriented approach to address prevention, education and treatment opportunities,” Casselman said. “Technology can empower consumers to understand and manage their own health in ways we have yet to imagine, and there is tremendous potential to change the traditional landscape of health benefits. I am so inspired by what League is building and what they’re aiming to achieve.”

League gives employers mobile-friendly access to workplace wellness programs, health spending accounts and extended health insurance. The startup, which received US $25 million in its latest round of funding, is looking to expand with drug plans, additional insurance coverage, employee assistance programs and occupational health and safety services.
